The first time I saw photos of the most recent Chanel show I was disappointed. Funny because I count on death, taxes and Lagerfeld. The giant set did not make any sense to me whatsoever and left me flat. Well for some reason I just visited the Chanel site. Upon closer inspection I just and realised what the set depicts. It is an enormous couture merry go round. Lagerfeld said he decided to put the house's historical motifs on to the merry ground so that he could free himself to work with the clothing unadorned of the usual pearls and camelias. But...
I wonder if thethis is the Kaiser's reflection on the cycles of fashion or it a nod to how a lot of us are feeling these days - like we are just spinning around in circles.
Is this indeed intended as social commentary on the times we live in. Maybe why the girls aren't wearing lipstick? Or maybe I think too much?
I do know that I am not ready to hang up my pearls or my red lipstick. We need a little optimismistic chic to make life worth living.
Alot of the clothes did not do it for me this time around, but there are some winners. I would wear this beret and pallazo pants in a heart beat. In case you have not seen the merry go round in motion for yourself...check this out!

I'm not crazy about the fact that the clothes are unadorned.
