The first photo is of a summer cottage in Skagen, Denmark which is the northern most of Denmark. Artists love it there becuase the light is so pure. I loved it because seals play on the sand dunes, and the two seas meet. What this means is that the waves crash and meet from two different directions. It is one of natures spectacles.
The most unusual gadget I have that I could not live without is my Danish cutting board. I received it as part of a Xmas gift a few years ago and did not understand all the hoopla. (most Dane's don't consider the kitchen complete without one) Anyway the hoopla was well deserved. Anyone that comes over to my house is in awe of it. It's so popular that I carry it in my shop. It is made of teak, the workmanship is gorgeous. It will last a lifetime at least. The way it works it is a grid on top with a sliding drawer as the bottom. SO crumbs fall through the grid into the drawer when you slice bread. Its also nice to slice meats as the juice winds up in the drawer. It's my goto wedding gift. And pardon me for saying this...the best thing since sliced bread
